2016 Huntsville Free Summer Concerts

Summer means long days and warm nights which makes it perfect for enjoying a little outdoor music. Lucky for us that Huntsville has lots of opportunities for your family to enjoy FREE music all summer long.

Concerts in the Park

Arts Huntsville and the City of Huntsville’s Department of Parks and Recreation present the 2016 Concerts in the Park season. The Concerts, which will be held for ten weeks every Monday evening, begin June 6 and conclude August 8. The series will showcases a mix of musical genres from rock and roll, pop and top 40 to swing, country, bluegrass, Celtic and jazz. The Concerts take place in downtown Huntsville on the Huntsville Museum of Art outdoor stage in Big Spring International Park from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. The series is free to the public; concertgoers should bring their own seating and leashed pets are welcome. Concertgoers will have a variety of dinner choices available as Arts Huntsville and the City of Huntsville will host local food trucks at the weekly Concerts.

June 27 – The U.S. Army Materiel Command Band The Monday, June 27 Concert is part of Huntsville’s Armed Forces Week celebrations. Arts Huntsville and the City of Huntsville are proud to present Redstone Arsenal’s own Army Materiel Command Bands. The evening will end with a downtown fireworks display.
July 4 – Huntsville Concert Band / Huntsville’s In the Mood Big Swing Band

Sponsored by the City of Decatur Parks and Recreation Department, this concert series on the banks of the Tennessee River runs every Monday in June and July. These FREE concerts offer a wide variety of musical styles in a family-friendly setting. Guests are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets. Per Decatur City Ordinance, alcohol is not permitted in the park and pets must be leashed according to City laws. For more information call 256-341-4818.

Downtown Huntsville Inc. is once again planning to provide beaucoup opportunities to hear live music this summer. Visit Washington Square on Thursday evenings for Maypril Music on the Square through the end of May, followed in turn by Acoustic Squared through August. Two acoustic artists on opposite sides of the Square providing the soundtrack to your summer as you enjoy the weather, historic buildings, restaurants, and shopping Downtown. The popular Street Food Gatherings are back on the 3rd Fridays throughout the summer. Finally, the Grotto Lights Concert Series in Big Spring Park East will resume on June 11; feel free to bring a picnic, or grab a bite from the food trucks that will be in attendance.

For those of you in Madison, or those who just prefer a smaller event, this free concert series is held every Thursday in the summer from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in downtown Madison. There will be free face painting, balloons, lemonade and cookies for the little ones and while you are welcome to bring your own picnic, there will also be food vendors on hand if you don’t want the hassle. The Graves Grocery Summer Concert Series takes place on Saturdays throughout June. The series kicks off with Bluewater Road’s heel-kicking bluegrass, who always draw a fun crowd. Music begins at 6:30. Dinner plates are available for $10 each and include a smoked pork loin sandwich, homemade potato salad, baked beans, chips, and a drink. Proceeds will fund a summer mission trip to Africa. The store is also open to have a look and shop for artisan products. Don’t forget your lawn chair!
