Huntsville’s first and oldest Museum, Burritt on the Mountain, is a unique Huntsville Treasure sitting atop Monte Sano Mountain, overlooking the city of Huntsville. Burritt provides educational learning experiences for children and families monthly as well as hands on activities and festivals throughout the year. Come on up and visit us!

Often referred to Huntsville’s “Jewel on the Mountain,” Burritt Museum features the eclectic mansion, add a historic park with restored 19th century houses including barnyard and animals. This place is fantastic. It’s the closest thing Huntsville has to a zoo and the people who run it are super nice. The drive-thru aspect of the “zoo” means no one gets too tired or hot. My whole family has a blast whenever we go! – Marisa S.

Nice indoor play area for the kids, bounce houses, slides and playground equipment all on a soft floor. There are tables, desktop computers and free wifi for the older kids and adults. They always have something going on (face painting, easter pictures, coupon classes). – Beth C.

Kidventure is our climate controlled fun year round!It is an awesome indoor playground for crawling babies through children up to age 9! Every day is a great day to visit. They have special events and birthday parties too! My house stays cleaner when we can playdate there! The kids always have a great time. This was an awesome location for my children (age 7) to run off some steam. We invited our friends, and the kids had a blast running through the obstacle course and playing on all of the bounce options and slides. I have also been to birthday parties here and they are GREAT! – Christa L.

The Parents’ Night Out program is the best. For $20, the kids get dinner and 3 hours of fun science activities. Our daughter’s grades in science have gone up and we’re sure it’s because of their awesome program. – Whitney G.

Dampen your little ones appetite for science by attending short but activity packed hour of learning and fun. Membership to Sci-Quest is not required to attend the classes. Classes are Mon or Tues 10-10:45 for 2-3 yo and 11-12 for 4-5. (Check website for details) Small classes, typically 4-7 children. Guardians stay in 2-3 yo class. Experienced instructor. Class is called Sprouting Scientists. You register per class. So it is a small effort and cost to try it out. Classes have reading, educational video which is often a song with visuals, crafts, activity.- Karen A.

Star HB farms offers guided trail rides (as well as lessons and birthday parties) for ages 3 and up. The price for an hour trail ride is a very reasonable $20 per person. The horses are well cared for and well-mannered. It’s a fun day out for your horse loving kiddo! – Lee Ann B.
