Robert Allen Tinnon 5th Avenue Park in Athens
- 934 5th Avenue, Athens AL
- Open daily from 8AM - 10PM
- Features: A pavilion with bathrooms, a small playground, a baseball field, and a walking track
Athens families enjoy this city park located in the Fairview Park area downtown.
When you arrive, you have to walk across a small bridge to get to the park from the parking lot, so if you have little ones, you’ll need to watch them closely so they don’t run down to the water.
The playground, pavilion, and walking track are located just across the bridge, so we didn’t have to walk far. I noticed some graffiti and some trash and cigarette butts on the playground, but there wasn’t a crowd and we had fun playing.
There are trees along some of the walking track, but there is no shade at the playground. The equipment is geared for all ages, and my little guy loved the rock scape.
It’s good to note that the playground doesn’t have a fence and there is a large ditch with water close by. The restrooms are conveniently located but bring your own soap or hand sanitizer; and neither has a changing table.
