Weekend Wanderings at Monte Sano Nature Preserve
Sun 28th @ 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
FreeWeekend Wanderings, a program for young hikers, will highlight a different Land Trust preserve each month, providing participants with a variety of opportunities to explore, develop some new skills, and learn about the natural environment.
Cost: FREE but membership to support Land Trust’s mission is very much appreciated.
Reservations: Registration required. Space is limited. Please register using parent/guardian’s information and select spots for the number of participating children only. Adults do not need to reserve a spot for themselves. There are no waitlists for these events. If spaces become available, registration will reopen so please check back if you’re interested in attending.
April’s Wander will be at the Monte Sano Nature Preserve, meeting at the Bankhead Trailhead parking lot. We’ll travel down the Alms House Trail, spending some time looking for fossils at the power line cut before making our way down to Fagan Creek. We’ll stay there for a bit, before making our way back to the trailhead. Depending on the time, we’ll either go back up Alms House Trail, or take Old Railroad Bed Trail to Tollgate Trail.
When: Sunday, April 28 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Ages: 6-12 years. An accompanying adult is required for all programs.
What to Bring: We recommend closed toe shoes, long pants, bug spray, sunscreen as appropriate, and water.
Location: Monte Sano Nature Preserve – Bankhead Trailhead 2442 Bankhead Pkwy NE,
Huntsville, AL 35801
Registration is required. Information at landtrustnal.org/event/weekend-wanderings-apr2024.
