I’ve Been Keeping a Secret

Let me start this off by saying that I don’t do secrets well. That probably isn’t a startling revelation to many of you since I am someone who blogs about their personal life, but believe it or not, I do keep some things private. Still, it has been KILLING me not to share this personal tidbit with everyone, but I knew I needed to wait so I could get all my ducks in a row and share all the good news at once. Technically, I’ve been keeping two secrets and they’re both such great news that I’m thrilled to share them with you now.

The First One is a Big One

Pregnancy Test
Great News!

I’m pregnant! Yes, I am 37 years old. Yes, it was a little unexpected. But this “accident” was of the happiest kind and unexpected only because we thought it wasn’t possible. I am due in July and my husband and I are ecstatic. My daughter is mostly trying to figure out exactly what is going to happen. She asked me yesterday if she could talk to the baby and then proceeded to yell into my mouth since the baby is in my tummy.

This means that 2012 will be The Year of the Pregnancy and if you are on this journey with me, please leave a comment in the comment section because I’d love to chat with others in my situation. It also means I’ll be doing lots of posts about all I find out with regard to being pregnant in Huntsville, giving birth in Huntsville, and, of course, the resources available to new mothers in Huntsville.

The Other Big News

As if I wasn’t swamped enough, having a second child also means that I need to finally bite the bullet and get some real help. I knew this time was coming even before I knew the baby was coming but seeing that plus sign just convinced me to speed up the process.

AND I AM SO GLAD I DID!

Meet Stephenie

I am very excited to welcome Stephenie Walker as my new co-editor at RCM. Most of you already know Stephenie as The Book Mama, and you might also remember her as the librarian turned Dixie Derby Girl I interviewed back at the beginning of last year for my very first RCM Podcast. After my first meeting with Stephenie I knew we were going to be good friends. She has been an unofficial consultant for this site since then and I am so happy she has agreed to go on this crazy ride with me.

Already we are planning some awesome articles for the coming weeks and months and I absolutely love having a partner in crime. Maintaining a website can be a pretty lonely process (not to mention overwhelming) and bringing on help will allow us to bring you even more local info/resources/fun this year.

Please join me in welcoming Stephenie to the Rocket City Mom family and, as always, let us know if there is anything you’d like to see on here that you feel we’ve left off or that other moms in the area need to know about. Also, thanks for all the kind words and support you’ve offered this past year and thanks for reading RCM.
