November 23 – December 23, 5-9PM Nightly – Another holiday event put on by Earlyworks, this one in conjunction with Constitution Village. If you buy a ticket to the Earlyworks Society’s Suppers with Santa, you get admission to Santa’s Village for free but you can also just buy tickets for this delightful event on its own. Young and old will delight in visiting the Claus’ house, Santa’s reindeer, the North Pole elves and chatting with Santa! “Christmas Now & Then” (Decatur)
November 30, December 1-2, 7-9, 14-16 at 7:00PM – This annual show at Calvary Assembly Church in Decatur not only features Santa, but dancing characters like Frosty the Snowman, The Grinch, Angels, Elves, Spiderman, VeggieTales, Disney characters, and a host of other children’s favorites in the elaborate production. Santa Train
December 1, 2, and 8th – This is a great holiday treat from The North Alabama Railroad Museum. Come out and see the train decorated inside and out. Talk and visit with Santa on the train and let the little ones have their picture made with him. And surprise, all the good youngsters will get a special treat from Santa before the day is done. These train rides last 40 minutes and run at 10, 11, 1, 2 and 3 PM. December 3-6th – This popular Huntsville fundraiser sponsored by the Earlyworks Society includes a child friendly dinner and a seat at each table reserved for Santa to drop by and wish you a hearty Ho Ho Ho! November 16 & 17 at 7PM – The six Herdman children are the meanest, toughest kids in town. So what happens when they take over the church’s annual Christmas pageant? Celebrate the spirit of the season with this funny, memorable, outrageous tale that’s been a favorite of young readers since 1972 — and continues to be one of the best Christmas stories ever. Christmas in the Park (Arab)
November 23 – December 31 – Arab City Park is a must-see during the holiday season. Featuring more than 2 million lights, the park is ablaze with the magic and beauty of Christmas. Christmas Parade (Downtown Huntsville)

Tinsel Trail (Downtown Huntsville)
The 2nd annual Downtown 47 Tinsel Trail is a display of live Christmas trees in downtown Huntsville for one month, kicking off with a tree lighting at dusk on December 1, 2012. Over 170 live trees will decorate the center of Big Spring Park East for the holiday season! Intended to attract visitors to the downtown area, each tree will be sponsored by a local corporation, group or family, and decorated by its sponsor. Sing-a-long Messiah (Weatherly Baptist)
December 11 – No admission charged. This event begins at 7:30 PM. All area singers are invited to join the chorus and sing-a-long with the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah”. Ice-Skate in the Park (Downtown Huntsville)
November 21 – January 5 – NEW THIS YEAR: Ice is coming, but this time there’s no need to rush to your nearest grocery store. Instead, get ready to lace up your skates at Huntsville’s first outdoor ice skating rink—our very own version of “Rocket-fella” Center. Bring your family and friends beginning November 21 through January 5, and experience a magical winter land right in downtown Huntsville. Monday – Thursday: noon to 10PM; Friday noon to 12AM; Saturday 10AM to midnight; Sunday noon to 8PM. $10.00 per person skating fee, $3.00 skate rental fee. Group rates are available. Christmas in the Park (Arab)
November 23 – December 31 – Arab City Park is a must-see during the holiday season. Featuring more than 2 million lights, the park is ablaze with the magic and beauty of Christmas. Visitors can stroll along the sidewalks and pathways within the park. Event is FREE and open to the public. This event kicks off with a formal lighting ceremony at 6:00 PM on the Friday after Thanksgiving at the park gazebo. DIRECTIONS FROM HSV: Take U.S. Highway 231 South into Arab. Turn left on 7th Avenue NW (McDonald’s on left), then right onto Main Street. Continue traveling south through 2 traffic lights. Turn left onto Shoal Creek Trail NE. Kris Kringle’s Candlelight Christmas (Burritt)
November 30th and December 1st – See Burritt on the Mountain transformed into a twinkling, winter wonderland. With lots of hands-on crafts, photo opportunities at the giant gingerbread house, and a visit with Kris Kringle, you don’t want to miss the fun! There are also musical groups performing in a number of styles throughout the park. Santa’s Village (Constitution Village)
November 23 – December 23, 5-9PM Nightly – Another holiday event put on by Earlyworks, this one in conjunction with Constitution Village. If you buy a ticket to Suppers with Santa, you get admission to Santa’s Village for free but you can also just buy tickets for this delightful event on its own. Young and old will delight in visiting the Claus’ house, Santa’s reindeer, the North Pole elves and chatting with Santa! Nightly snow shows, craft projects in the Toymaker’s Workshop, musical entertainment on the Tinsel Tunes Stage and shopping at the new Arts Marketplace, all add to the enchantment at the Village Santa calls home. NEW THIS YEAR: In Santa’s Magic Garden there’s a show you won’t want to miss! This magical garden will come to life right before your eyes – Christmas trees will talk and sing, while holiday lights magically keep up the beat! 6th Annual Rudolph Run
December 15 – The Rudolph Run will feature a 5K run and a 1 mile fun run. The course will “fly” participants through the beautifully decorated streets of downtown Huntsville, including the Twickenham and Old Town Historic Districts. The 5K race will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the 1 Mile will begin at 9:15 a.m. The Awards ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. Both Races will be start at Santa’s Village, located at Constitution Village, 109 Gates Avenue, downtown Huntsville.
Santa’s Science Workshop (Sci-Quest)
December 22, 10 AM to 3 PM – Santa is busy getting ready for the holiday season, but he and his elves are taking time to show Sci-Quest families the science behind toy making! Join us as we take apart and tinker with all sorts of toys and discover some science along the way. All visitors will make several take home projects that will be great presents for friends and family and Mrs. Claus will even be on hand to help decorate cookies. It’s sure to be a holly jolly good time! Cost is $1 plus general admission. www.sci-quest.org
Skate with Santa
This Huntsville tradition is a fun opportunity for the whole family. Really get in the mood for the holidays no matter what the weather is like outside. New Year’s Eve at Noon (Sci-Quest)
December 31, 10 AM to Noon – Ring-a-ling-a-ling! 2013 here we come! Join us for a rockin’ fun-filled New Year’s Eve party with all of the traditions of a grown-up celebration made child friendly at Sci-Quest. Traditions include the passage of time – an important understanding for children – so let’s ring in the New Year with sparkly art projects and all kinds of science fun! At Noon, enjoy an apple juice toast and make hats and shakers. It’s a great way for your family to enjoy New Year’s festivities all before bedtime!
