Weekend Roundup May 6-8

The Huntsville weekend is looking beautiful, and we’ve got a roundup packed with free and/or cheap family friendly fun for you to peruse.

mothers day wowIt’s also the perfect time of year to explore your local farmer’s market, especially since there’s an abundance of sweet strawberries to be had! We count 15 local market, and you can find out more about each one in our Farmer’s Market Guide.

By the way, Mother’s Day is kind of a big deal around here, so we dedicated a whole post to it this week to help you prepare. You’ll find all the places moms get in free this Sunday, plus some great gift and brunch ideas!

Free Comic Book Day

Stock up on Spiderman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Iron Man and all your favorites on National Free Comic Book Day! Huntsville is celebrating at The Deep and Haven Comics with lots of cosplayers, demonstrations of board and card games, and great deals.

Cullman Strawberry Fest

Saturday from 8AM – 4PM

Along with live music, a classic car show, arts and crafts, and scrumptious food vendors, visitors of this Spring festival can plan to spend the whole day in the downtown district, dancing to a variety of music playing at the Festhalle or taking guided tours provided by the Cullman County Museum. Be sure to visit the kid’s Jam Zone!

Nature Explorers

Take a walk with your kids and observe everything you hear, see, smell, and feel. Being extra observant in nature is what this Nature Explorers Club session is all about – each activity will include an adventure and a craft. Monte Sano Yard Sale

This community wide yard sale is sure to turn up some amazing finds! Toys, clothes, household items, sports equipment, furniture and more can all be found at this much-anticipated annual yard sale. While you’re there, do a little giving yourself with a LifeSouth blood donation.

PACT Touch-A-Truck

What child doesn’t dream of getting behind the wheel of a fire truck, a race car, or a police car? PACT Touch-A-Truck will make your child’s wildest dreams come true by offering a hands-on opportunity to play, climb, explore, and touch trucks, emergency response vehicles, tractors, and even a helicopter! This event will also offer free car seat checks, children’s ID cards, and fire safety tips. There is even a “quiet time” (10AM-11AM) for children who may not enjoy noise or crowds.
