Happy Valentine’s Day weekend, Huntsville!
Love is all around us and I hope you can soak some up with your family this weekend! There are lots of great things to do and see, and each week we try to list the free family-friendly fun in Huntsville right here for you.
If you’re lucky, you can snag a sitter or a spot at one of the many Parent’s Night Out events happening around town this Friday and spend some time with your Significant Other. You could also grab the glitter & glue and try these easy Valentine crafts to make with your kids. Or do both!

You can also get the warm fuzzies for supporting quality local theatre programs.

Treat your preschooler to one of the more nostalgic experiences from your own childhood – the library puppet show! This fun, interactive puppet show features three favorite story time books, lots of music, rhymes, and a craft. Your little one will have a blast & you can make some great library memories together.

Tra-la-la-la! If your kiddo loves to watch The Voice on television, now they have a chance to watch a version of it Live, and with kids! Wade Brown, a participant in the 2nd Season of NBC’s “The Voice” will be judging students’ performances along with other community judges. Come and hear local students sing their favorite songs. Refreshments will be for sale at intermission. Proceeds go to support the Academy Choral Parents organization for AAA’s 5th -8th grade choirs. More details here.

You and your little valentine can build a heart-shaped photo holder at this free kid’s workshop! You also get a free apron, goggles, patch, and a morning spent creating something together. While this event is free, spots fill up and you must register online in advance – no walk-ins.

The Grand Parade is THE place to be in Huntsville at 3:30 on FEBRUARY 14th! BEADS, FLOATS, MUSIC, what more could you ask for this time of year?! The parade will start and stop on Meridian Street, close to The Furniture Factory and The Lumberyard and parade through the streets of downtown Huntsville. Last year’s parade was tons of fun and I’m sure this year will be even bigger & better. Don’t let a little cold air keep you from coming out! See the Parade Route here.
Decatur, Alabama’s all-day Mardi Gras Celebration supports the Carnegie Visual Arts Center. Highlights include the Carnival Canines on parade at 11 am at Casa Grade Park, the Children’s Play Area and Art Areas in Art Founders Park from 11-4, the children’s Prince and Princess Parade at 2pm and the main Carnegie Carnival Parade at 6pm.
