We’ve also listed all of our favorite free and/or cheap events happening in Huntsville and Madison County here for you, hopefully to make it easier to make plans and spend some QT with the Family.

The new children’s librarian at the Madison Library is starting up a new music class! Join Ms. LeAnna for an Intro to Music class for kids in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. Space is limited to 20 children, so arrive early to get in. Call 256-461-0046 for more details.

Twickenham Fest is pleased to announce its 6th year of free performances! Five concerts, four days. Twelve Guest Artists and co-founders Matthew McDonald and Susanna Phillips will perform works by Bach, Beethoven, Ravel, Duparc, Strauss, Villa Lobos, De Falla, Poulenc, Tchaikovsky, & many more. Reserve your seat online and see the full schedule of concerts HERE – it’s a wonderful opportunity to expose your kids to the best classical music and amazing talent that Huntsville has to offer. Co-founders Susanna Phillips and Matthew McDonald maintain a mission to make exceptional live classical music available to all.

There will be more than 60 art vendors selling paintings, jewelry, pottery, photography, and much more. Load the kids up in the stroller and head down to Downtown Huntsville with the family. It’s a great opportunity to listen to some free live music, support local artists, maybe grab a bite to eat, and unwind from a long week.

Saturday from 10-Noon
Cost: $5, plus admission or membership
Huntsville Botanical Garden (map)

Take a magical, little-ones’ adventure through the Garden looking for fairies, tadpoles and soft-as-velvet lamb’s ears leaves – so welcoming to the touch of tiny hands. Fresh Air Family and the Garden have partnered to bring you Hikes for Tykes, an outdoor environmental education program designed specifically for pre-school children. This is a fun and highly successful program athat engages young children in outdoor exploration and hands-on activities.

They craft, you shop! Kids 3 and up can enjoy a quick project and take home a finished masterpiece. Sign up in store or online, or just drop in. $2 per child, supplies included. This month’s craft is a creative fabric bookmark!

Art Market Awesomeness

Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment (map)

It’s a great day t explore the largest private Arts facility in the country, and it’s right here in the Rocket City. Local artists and others are invited to set up a booth at the Flying Monkey Arts Center and sell their wares to the public. There will be art, jewelry, vintage clothing, and more interesting things for sale inside the Mill – safe from rain. While you’re there, grab a treat from Pizzelle’s Confections or lunch at Happy Tummy. Kids will love to check out the new SuperPowered Studios and other artists throughout the historic Mill.
