Von Braun Center Wants You at Its Birthday Party!
Did you know that Mayor Tommy Battle proclaimed March 2015 Von Braun Center month? What better way to celebrate than participate in the Von Braun Music Run and Open House?
Come out March 21 from 9:00-2:00 and enjoy a fun family day while we celebrate our Von Braun Center’s 40th birthday! There is something for everyone starting the day with a 5k and Fun Run (where you can run, walk, skip, dance or have someone push your stroller). If that isn’t your idea of fun, make sure to come support your favorite runner and then tour the VBC. The VBC Open House will spotlight all the programs offered throughout the year.
VBC Open House = Birthday Bash!
There will be many fun things located throughout the Von Braun Center with free refreshments and giveaways in each area. Here are a few highlights of things to check out:
- Local musicians who will be playing throughout the inside and outside of the building
- Jingles the Clown will be making balloon shapes for the kids
- Inflatables for the kids to enjoy
- Propst Arena will feature the opening ceremony at 11:00 where you can enjoy a piece of celebration cake
- Propst Arena will also have various games available and information on your favorite Huntsville sporting events
- The Mark C. Smith Concert Hall will offer a photo op with Lucy and Ricky of I Love Lucy and an opportunity to explore the instruments of the Huntsville Symphony
- The Playhouse will feature upcoming productions and local theatre groups
- South Hall will be hosting the NEACA Craft Show with great shopping
Did I mention everything listed above is FREE?!?!
Von Braun Music Run Details
VBC staff will be on-hand to ensure you miss nothing or you are welcome to wander on your own! The 5k and Open House begin at 9:00 and the Fun Run starts at 10:00.
Make sure to register online for the 5k or Fun Run.
Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt! If you’re not planning to participate in the running events, show up on Saturday between 9:00-2:00 for everything else, no registration necessary. Also, check out the Facebook page for additional, updated information.

The 1 Mile Fun Run will begin in front of the VBC at 10am
Location: Von Braun Center, Huntsville (map)
Cost: $20 per runner
Early Packet Pickup will be at Fleet Feet (Fri., March 20th 10a – 7pm). On-site packet pickup will be in front of the Propst Arena.
Participants and supporters may park in the VBC South Hall Garage, the City Garage directly across Monroe Street from the VBC, or any other normally available parking downtown.
