If you’re still looking for summer camp ideas I have two words for you – HURRY UP!
No seriously, I’m the queen of procrastination so I have no room to talk but even I have registered my oldest for a couple of camps already. Time is quickly running out and you don’t want to miss this opportunity for your children to investigate all kinds of interests they might not have time to enjoy during the school year.
Luckily, here in Huntsville we’ve got a lot of great options and today we’re highlight just a few. Check out these three awesome “rocket” related camps and if you still don’t see something that tickles your fancy then check out the more than 100 camp listings in our Summer Camp Guide. From cupcake and needlework classes to martial arts camps to VBS listings galore, we’ve got a full spectrum of options just waiting for you and your little ones to explore.
Design and Build a Rocket
This relatively new family-owned local business provides fab lab equipment for use by the general public and local businesses. The lab is open to anyone who has a great idea and wants to build it. So what better place to let your future engineer, inventor, or artist tinker? In addition to Space Craft Design for Beginners, Mind Gear Labs is also offering summer classes in designing video games, building websites, or making stop motion animated films.
Command a Rocket
It’s impossible to live in Huntsville and not know something about the internationally acclaimed camp program we have right in our own backyard. Space Camp has been a mecca for students interested in getting hands-on experience in science, math, and technology since its first camp in 1982. It addition to being educational it’s also a whole lot of fun! The best part is that if you live in the Tennessee Valley you can experience Space Camp for a lot less since all three programs (Space, Robotics, and Aviation) are offered as day camps as well as the traditional week-long overnight camp program. Of course, if this sounds like too much fun for mom and dad to pass up, you can always attend Family Camp provided all of those attending are ages 7 or older.
With both dance AND music camps offered to students as young as 3 years old, there is literally something for everyone at Steps of Faith Performing Arts Center. Ballerina Princess camp (ages 3-4 ), Rock Star Dance camp (ages 5-6), and Summer Dance Days (ages 7-10) are just the beginning at SOFPAC. There are also intensive ballet and dance camps for intermediate and advanced students along with a brand new “Let’s Right” music program that will teach students music theory through fun games, voice and songwriting. So if rockin’ their body is more interesting to your student than studying rockets, this might be just the camp them.
