The Power of Being Involved in Theatre as a Youth

Fantasy Playhouse

At 13 years old, theatre changed my life.

My family moved to a new state just as I started 8th grade. I faced a new school with no friends or any kind of network. Luckily, my mom found a notice in the newspaper (this was a long time ago) advertising a community theatre group for teens. Walking through those doors that first Monday night introduced me to a group that became “my people” through high school. The 15 productions I participated in helped me build self-confidence, learn time management, collaborate with a group, and even laid the groundwork for a professional theatre career.

We at Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theatre invite your teen to experience the same life-changing theatre magic, whether it’s through an Academy acting showcase, our Lab 87 Teen Actors’ Conservatory, or our upcoming shows Cinderella, A Christmas Carol, and The Hobbit.

A professional theatre career is not guaranteed, but making new friends and mastering self confidence and skills that will enrich life on and offstage are! Read more to find out ways to get involved. Let the magic continue!
