Veteran’s Day in Huntsville 2015

This Wednesday come out and honor our living legends – Veterans Day, November 11, 2015, will be celebrated this year with a huge parade in downtown Huntsville.

This year’s parade will start at 11:00 AM on Holmes Avenue and turn northeast on Monroe past the Veterans Memorial. It will head south onto Greene Street, west on Williams Avenue then back onto Monroe past the Von Braun Center. See the map.

Bring your children out to meet history live and in the flesh. See how much our Armed Forces have grown and changed throughout history by watching the parade, standing side-by-side with those who serve or have served and then take them to see the Visions of Vets mosaic afterwards.

Why It’s Important to Take Kids to the Veteran’s Day Parade

How many opportunities do our children get to meet the people from the wars of the past and present?

Walking history is just one of the many reasons to bring the little ones out! Outside of the parade there will be food trucks, singing, lines of musical bands, dancing lines, big brothers and sisters marching in their JROTC’s and the many community groups that support soldiers and their family members from all across Huntsville and Madison County.

Last year’s event had over 170 participants in the parade which included lines of classic and modern cars and motorcycles, tanks, firetrucks, horses, Purple Heart recipient’s, Gold and Blue Star wives and families and much, much more. Thousands of men, women and children came out to watch and honor our Soldiers and Veterans.

A lot of people today are talking about parents not teaching their children respect. Wednesday is a wonderful opportunity to really allow a conversation to blossom! It will be a chance to show children who the men and women are that signed up to serve to protect the United States of America. It puts a face and a feeling of pure liberty and integrity, to see all their faces lit up and a great opportunity for them to thank people who are otherwise just “doing their job” – but to us, it means so much more.

Bring your children, so our Veterans, young and old, can see the fruits of their labor and benefit of their sacrifices in the eyes, smiles, laughter and witness the joy our generation of little ones are so blessed to have.

Visions of Veterans – Patriots Mosaic

On November 13 at 5pm, all Military ID holders and their families are invited to Fort Rucker’s free camping event “Camping Under the Stars.” Families are welcome to stay for the evening or camp overnight, and Fort Rucker is offering FREE use of 3 man and 6 man tents to those who reserve them ahead of time.
