Spring Makeup Tips for Busy Moms

Spring has Sprung, and that means it’s time for some Spring makeup tips!

As winter melts away we can finally shake off that dreary cabin fever, open the windows and say those words that are magic for moms everywhere, “Go Outside and Play!” Now, don’t get me wrong, chillin’ with Old Man Winter has its perks; chunky scarves, those killer boots you bought on clearance last spring that you finally get to wear, the occasional bowl of snow-cream and, my favorite, no-shave November (that’s totally a thing, and girls can play too!). But, by the time spring rolls around we are ready to kick all that to the curb and enjoy the sun!

Whatever you decide to do while enjoying the Great Outdoors, there remains one constant: actually going outdoors. As in, leaving the house. With all of your children. On time. Preferably with everyone wearing pants.

Honestly, as a mom of five, I’ve seriously weighed the pros and cons of skipping that last one. After getting everyone else ready, there is often little time left over for ourselves, but don’t you worry! I’m here to give you some great tips to get you out of the door without looking like you just wrangled a pack of wild monkeys into a minivan! So, break out those maxi dresses and strappy sandals, it’s about to get easy breezy up in here!

Before we dig in to this bad boy, I want to let you in on a little secret: there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to beauty. At least, not in my world. What we do externally is all about outward expression of inner desire. If you feel like doing it, than do it! And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I’m just here to give you tips, not tell you how to wear your own face. I always say, “Don’t let beauty define you. Define Beauty.” (Catchy, right?)

Let’s begin!

Tip #1 – Skin

Spring brings to mind words like “fresh”, “light” and “soft”. When it comes to our base for a spring look, nobody wants to be bogged down with heavy layers that have the potential to melt off in the hot sun.

My go-to is a lightweight BB cream. BB cream is basically a tinted moisturizer that offers light coverage, without the risk of creasing and leaves your skin with a soft and supple dewy look that just screams “Look at me, I’m GORGEOUS!” It’s a time saver too because it’s a two-in-one product. Yes, please!

Tip #2 – Eyes

Ok, full disclosure, I am a total color freak. I will wear any color, any time, any season and make no apologies for it. That being said, I know that isn’t typically every gal’s cup of tea. No worries! There are many fun, playful and subtle ways to incorporate color into your look without over doing it and without eating away too much time from your daily routine. My favorite is cream shadow.

Oh, how I love cream shadow! Light, fluffy, sparkly! You swipe it on and it’s like the whole world finally makes sense again. Don’t be afraid of a little lid dazzle. I find that stepping a little bit in a bold direction is just enough to give you a finished look that literally took you a nano second to do. Even if you choose to do a sheer color, the sparkle sets it off and you get an effortlessly pretty result.

Easy as 1-2-3.

Tip #3 – Lips

When the good Lord calls me home, and they lay me in my final resting place, you best believe my tombstone will read “Here lies Jenny. Her lip-gloss was cool. Her lip-gloss was poppin’.” You’ll be hard pressed to find me without it. It’s my no-fail companion for any season and you really can’t go wrong with a sheer gloss for Spring. They are light and easy and can be applied pretty much as quickly as chapstick. Without having to worry about ‘coloring inside the lines’ you really can save yourself some time getting ready.

So, there you have it! I finished the look with one coat of my favorite mascara and a dab of bronzer. Try one for fun or all three for a complete look! Either way, you’ll be out of the house and onto some fun with your family, just rocking the crud out of that park play date! With time to spare to find everyone’s pants too. Look at you go, girl!
