Library Storytimes & Events in September

Huntsville Public Library

It’s no secret we LOVE the Huntsville Madison County Public Library and all of it’s many branches! There’s no shortage to quality community programs they host for kids and families. Library storytime is a great way to instill a love of books in your child, and the local library does so much more than just story hour! We like to list their events here every month, but you can see all of their other events on the HMCPL website.

Special Library Events in September

Tween Time in Madison
Date: September 3
Time: 2:00 pm
Location: Madison Public Library
Description: Tweens Unite! Tweens ages 9-14 join us twice monthly in the Young Adult room for an activity or craft, a snack and a movie. No registration needed; come late if you need to. Contact Ms Lisa ([email protected]) or Ms Maggie ([email protected]) for more information.

Homeschool Connections – Human Libraries: Molly Felder and Patterson
Tuesday, September 5 @ 1 PM
Monrovia Library
Info: Home school students in Kindergarten through 4th grades enjoy hands on activities and more during this interactive learning experience. Chinese Language and Culture for Kids with Confucius Institute
Downtown Huntsville Library
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. on beginning September 5
Info: Learn the language and culture of China with teachers from the Confucius Institute of Alabama A&M. This class will meet on the 3rd Floor in the Ranee Pruitt Room, unless otherwise noted. There will be a $5 charge for the course booklet once classes begin. Parent or guardian may remain in the room during the class, but will be required to stay at the library during the duration of the program. This program is limited to 20 children (recommended age of 6 and up).

Special Storytime with Molly & Patterson
Triana Library
September 7 at 10:30 AM
Guest Speaker: Molly Felder, Disability Advocate and Children’s Author
Ages: K-6 (siblings welcome)
Info: Molly and her service dog, Patterson, will discuss life in a wheelchair, challenges she faces, and how to approach a service animal.

Monrovia Board Game Night – Mice and Mystics

Monrovia Masterminds Science Club
Thursday, September 14 @ 4 PM

Info: Students in second-fifth grades experience science through hands-on interactive experiments and more. For more information contact Mandee Farley at [email protected] or call 256-489-3392.

Homeschool Hour at Main
Downtown Huntsville Library
September 14 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Info: Staff from the Special Collections of the Downtown library will teach students about researching family trees. Students in grades kindergarten through 3rd will meet at 10 a.m. to learn about making a family tree and interviewing family members about their heritage. Students in 4th grade and up will meet at 1 p.m. in the Technology Training Center to learn about using research tools to discover their family tree. All programs are free and do not require registrations, although it should be noted a limited number of computers will be available for the afternoon class.

Family Night: Ice Cream!
Date: September 14
Time: 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm
Location: Madison Public Library
Info: Once monthly, families come together through activities like games, movies, or volunteering. September features a summer sendoff with an ice cream theme! Bring your own dinner if you’d like. ALL families welcome! RSVP recommended at [email protected].

Family Movie Night: Captain Underpants
