Huntsville Botanical Garden

Frequent kid-friendly attractions like light shows at Christmas or the Scarecrows at Halloween not to mention recent seasonal features like “Fairies in the Garden” and butterfly releases make this a great place to take children of varying ages. This is also one of the prettiest spots in Huntsville to just take the kids and let them run and play. The Children’s Garden/Nature Center/Butterfly House is my personal favorite area of the garden but there are plenty of shady spots to picnic and enjoy the scenery. All of this makes membership ($70 annually per family) certainly worth the price.

The Garden is also a wonderful resource for homeschooling families, looking for summer activities, or have young children at home who need to get their wiggles out. Their Seeds to Sprouts program is held from April to October and is for children ages 2-5. Children enjoy stories, lessons, hands-on activities, and garden area guided tours. It is offered at 10 a.m. on select Fridays and Saturdays.
