If you are a family that has decided to homeschool or are considering that option in Huntsville and Madison County, AL, we hope you find this useful. Online Homeschooling Resources

Alabama Homeschool Legislation – knowing all the laws & rules about homeschooling in this state is NOT an option! Be sure to educate yourself on a regular basis to updates and changes to state law.

Alabama Homeschooling – Maintained by Everest Academy out of Birmingham but offers information that covers the entire state of Alabama.

Educational Escapes – a program launched by the Huntsville Madison County Convention & Visitor Bureau, this is a free field trip planning service for student/youth group leaders interested in curriculum-based, fun and exciting educational opportunities in north Alabama.

Calvary School – Madison
Calvary is an umbrella that provides parents a legal avenue to homeschool their children in the State of Alabama. Calvary accepts homeschool students from all over the State of Alabama regardless of religion, culture or race.

Contemporary Education Academy – Huntsville
CE Academy combines this original American education process with current internet technology advances to provide a contemporary education.

Covenant Christian Academy – Huntsville
Motto: Equipping Parents in Educating their Children to Pursue their Godly Destiny

Life Christian Academy – Harvest
A Christ-centered environment for like-minded families that have chosen to home educate their children. A co-op option is available.

Dayspring Academy – Maplesville
Encourages and promotes Family-Based Learning as a time-honored way to ensure that children learn at their level taking into consideration their maturity levels and individual abilities and family styles.

Excalibur Christian School – Madison
A non-restrictive non-denominational cover school; requires a statement of faith

Franklin School – Huntsville
Cover school and co-op formed to provide families with a secure place to homeschool their children, regardless of religion, sex, race, or culture.

HOPE Christian Academy – Tony
Dedicated to encourage & support Parent Educators and to educating their children to love one another and their community following the example of Jesus Christ. Their private Facebook Group also has lots of general free info for homeschooling families.

Libertas Classical Community – Decatur
This non-profit, classical, Christian, homeschool-hybrid learning community located in Decatur, Alabama and offers academic and enrichment programs for K4-12th grade students one to two days per week.

LifeGate Academy – Madison
A cover school offering support for homeschooling families in their educational journey, as well as monthly social activities throughout the school year.

Lionheart Christian Academy – Athens
LCA partners with families and the community of Christian believers to provide an excellent education rooted in Biblical truth, so children grow in their knowledge of God and His creation, and respond in service to Him.

North Alabama Friends School  – Huntsville
A cover school that provides curriculum advice, yearly achievement tests, record keeping/transcripts, field trips, monthly/other activities, a library and a high school diploma program.

Truth and Freedom Homeschool Academy – Decatur
Believes that educating children is the responsibility of the parents, and obtaining a Christian education is an absolute necessity in our society.

Veritas Classical School – Huntsville
Veritas School offers homeschooling families a unique complement to their home study programs by providing one day per week of classroom instruction, with an emphasis on classical as well as traditional subjects taught from a distinctly Christian perspective.

Whitesburg Baptist Christian School – Huntsville
Whitesburg Baptist Christian School is dedicated to the support of families who have a conviction from God that He has called them to home school their children. It is established to provide the legal covering and educational guidance necessary to promote a thorough, Christ-centered education.

Alabama Homeschool Expo

The Homeschool Expo is a two-day event with hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of products where parents can review and purchase the latest curriculum, hear great speakers who give practical encouragement, and receive personalized help and answers to any question. The workshops emphasize the practical aspects of working with children in ways that will promote their educational, social and emotional growth. The expo typically takes place in late June and tickets run $20-$25 with advanced registration.

Six Flags Read to Succeed Program

Usually in early Fall, homeschool teachers can register for that school year’s Read to Succeed Program and earned tickets to Six Flags are mailed in early May. Every homeschool teacher must register as an individual family, even if you participated in the program previously as a homeschool co-op, organization or group. All homeschool teachers must register in order to participate in the program. Even when the program is closed, homeschool teachers can continue to use the many resources provided by Read to Succeed including lesson plans, activities and more.
