Randolph invites community to celebrate National Arts in Education Week
Randolph School is proud to celebrate National Arts in Education Week, September 14 – 18, with special performances and events that are open to the community. Committed will perform on Tuesday, September 15th at 7:00pm on Randolph’s Garth Campus. Limited outdoor seating will be available and the concert can also be watched via livestream. In-person tickets are $25 with the option to add on a $20 VIP access pass. Livestream tickets are $20. We are thrilled to welcome this quintet a cappella group back home to Huntsville to perform in honor of their 10th anniversary of winning the national competition, NBC’s “The Sing Off”.
Accomplished watercolor artist Dean Mitchell will answer your questions live via Zoom on Wednesday, September 16th at 7:00pm. Like his artwork, which has been featured in numerous publications like the New York Times and Fine Art International, Mitchell’s story of becoming a professional artist is captivating and real. This event is free and requires advance registration online.
On Friday, September 18th at 7:00pm, Randolph School Visual Art Teacher, David Howse, will take his creative teaching techniques from the classroom to a special video presentation for a fun “paint at home” experience for families to engage in the arts. Supply kits will be available for purchase and pickup. This event is also free and requires advance registration online.
“Let’s be honest, 2020 hasn’t been easy. It’s in these times of unprecedented uncertainty when we desperately need something to recognize, validate, and express what our hearts can’t articulate. That’s why we value the arts. At Randolph School, we value teaching the whole child – the mind, body, and spirit – through our academic, athletic, and artistic programs. Our faculty and staff value the arts to build character, seek truth, and nurture all. For National Arts in Education Week, our goal is to provide you, our Randolph community, and the Huntsville community with events that bring us peace in the midst of uncertainty, joy and celebration for all the wonderful things in life that may be overshadowed, and a sense of togetherness in the midst of social distancing.” – Erin Charles, Ed.D. Director of Visual and Performing Arts
