Movers for Moms campaign is making big moves for local moms

When you think of Mother’s Day flower bouquets, pretty cards, and at day at the spa may come to mind. But for some women, a bottle a shampoo is the gift they so desperately want and need. Two Men and a Truck has launched their Movers for Moms campaign this month to help make those wishes a reality.

What’s Movers for Mom

From April 1 – May 5, Two Men and a Truck will be collecting high-need items for families for their Movers for Moms campaign that benefits Owen’s House, a shelter for displaced women and children. Something as simple as deodorant can be enough to make a local mama’s entire day.

Movers for Moms is in its fourth year of making a difference for local moms.

Needed items include:

  • Diapers – especially sizes 5, 6 & 7
  • Super Tampons
  • Body Wash
  • Body Lotion
  • Small tissue packs
  • Baby rice or oatmeal
  • Wipes
  • Lip Balm (SPF)
  • Hair Ties
  • Head bands
  • Bar Soap
  • Super Maxi Pads
  • Deodorant (travel size)
  • Adult Diapers (full pullups)

You can find a list of drop off locations and a complete wish list here along with upcoming collection events.

In addition to drop off locations, Two Men and a Truck are hosting special events throughout April to collect items.

Helping Owen’s House

If you need more motivation to get behind the Movers for Moms campaign, take a look at the Owen’s House philosophy. A safe-haven for local women and children, Owen’s House, helps women dealing with substance abuse, domestic violence, or that simply need a safe place to stay.

According to the Downtown Rescue Mission website, Owen’s House offers women and children access to food, clothing, toiletries, showers, laundry facilities, counseling, medical care, and more at no cost to them. Guests are also allowed to stay as long as needed.

Throughout their stay, local moms are also able to take part in Downtown Rescue Mission’s Life Transformation Program. The nine month program allows women access to counseling, basic skills training, parenting classes, and more while also providing daycare for their children.

Donations to the Movers for Moms campaign directly benefit these mamas and help make these programs possible. So if you’re able, join the move to help local moms this Mother’s Day!
