Rocket City Mom Hits the Red Carpet for Life of the Party Movie

Life of the Party movie

We’ve made it. Rocket City Mom was invited to attend the WORLD PREMIERE of Life of the Party, a new film coming out Mother’s Day weekend! We got to work on the red carpet, and chat with the cast about All Things MOM.

About the Movie

A few months ago, I remember seeing online that Melissa McCarthy, one of my all time favorite actresses, was writing and performing in a new movie about a recently divorced mom returning to college with her child.

I am dubbing this movie a “Momedy”. It’s a perfect movie to watch with your mom or teen – especially if you are past those college days or nearing them with your own child. It’s rated PG-13 so it’s funny in an adult way without being vulgar.

What really surprised me about this movie were the heartfelt moments between the mom and daughter. Melissa McCarthy plays a really vulnerable woman who is just looking for a second chance in life. I’ll be honest, there were moments I was a little teary thinking I would be dropping of my baby off at college (hopefully) one day. The love of a mother is fierce and no one can play that better than McCarthy.

The girls who are in college are playing more than vapid females who only care about their looks. It shows how young women are really trying to find themselves and become their own person as they enter adulthood and are “shoved” into the real world. All of the young ladies played kind, caring students who embraced McCarthy’s character.

We drove to Auburn, Alabama  to speak to the cast as they walked the red carpet about any embarrassing moments they might have experienced with their own moms.
