It’s no secret we LOVE the Huntsville Madison County Public Library and all of it’s many branches! There’s no shortage to quality community programs they host for kids and families. We like to list them here every month, but you can see all of their other events on the HMCPL website.

Board Game Night – Mice and Mystics

Build It With Bricks – Lego Club

Anime Club-“Princess Mononoke”

INFO: Anime Club gives teens a place to gather, watch, and talk about Japanese animation. Films include classics as well as new releases. Kiwanis Little Learners
Starts January 27 9:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.
Branch: Downtown Huntsville Library
Info: Kiwanis Little Learners is a five week session where your librarians create a play center for parents and caregivers to bring their young child, birth-age three, to play and informally meet with family resource professionals. During our five weeks we learn about early literacy; nutrition; speech, hearing, and language; and child development. Our play area materials were purchased with generous gifts from Huntsville Library Foundation and Rocket City Mom. Sign-ups are required. Space is limited to sixteen children between the ages of birth to three. Read all the details here! 

Chinese Language and Culture for Kids with Confucius Institute
LEVEL 1 Begins January 27 at 4 p.m.
Branch: Downtown Huntsville Library
Info: An opportunity for children to learn the language and culture of China with teachers from the Confucius Institute of Alabama A&M. This class will meet weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m.- 5 p.m. from January 27-May 11. There will be a $5 charge for the course booklet once classes begin. Parent or guardian has the option of the remaining in the room during the class but will be required to stay at the library during the duration of the program. This program is limited to 20 children (ages 6-18 years). You will be contacted before the start date of the program as a courtesy reminder. If you are wait-listed, you may be contacted in the event that another student is unable to attend all sessions. To sign up, please complete the online registration forms. Questions?
