It’s no secret we LOVE the Huntsville Madison County Public Library and all of it’s many branches! There’s no shortage to quality community programs they host for kids and families. We like to list them here every month, but you can see all of their other events on the HMCPL website.

Special Library Events in February

Teen Night – Cupcake Wars
Friday, February 3 @ 6:00 p.m.
Branch: Monrovia Library

Spring Fling Fund Raiser
Saturday, February 4 @ 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Branch: Monrovia Library
Info: Up to 20 vendors will be selling items and giving a percentage of profits to the Monrovia Library. All donations will be used to purchase books for the library. . For more information contact Cindy Hewitt @ 256-489-3392 or email her at [email protected].

February Puppet Show
Date & Time: February 8 and 9 at 9:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Branch: Bailey Cove Public Library
Info: Join us for a delightful puppet show that includes music, stories, and a craft.

Once Upon a Winter’s Night
Date & Time: Friday, February 10th from 6-8pm
Branch: Madison
Info: Please join us for our second annual Once Upon a Winter’s Night program, where we will celebrate fairytales through puppet shows, games, dancing, crafts, music, and more! This special, family friendly event is free, and costumes are encouraged. We guarantee you’ll have a ball!

Family Movie Night – Kubo and the Two Strings
Friday, February 10 @ 6:00 p.m.

Board Game Night – Boss Monster

Monrovia Masterminds Science Club – Fractals

Mardi Gras at the Library
February 28 10:30 & 4:00 p.m.
Downtown Huntsville Library
We are celebrating Mardi Gras at the library with crafts, a scavenger hunt, and a reverse parade (our paraders get candy and beads from library desk instead of throwing to watchers).

How to do Research, for Homeschoolers
Each Wednesday in February 11:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Downtown Huntsville Library
Join Ms. Julia and Mr. Jake as we explain how to conduct research for school papers. This is a four week class covering: print research, databases, online research, and how to put your research into a paper. We will address MLA, APA, and Chicago/Turabian formatting. This class is intended for 5th grade and up. Sign-ups are required at hmcpl.org.. The class will be limited to 20 students.

Tuesday Tales

Info: Story Time for ages 2-5, featuring stories, rhymes and music followed by a simple craft. A typically
smaller story time held in the children’s section so younger toddlers may wander as needed. Siblings
