Candlelight Christmas Returns to Burritt On the Mountain
- More than 600 candles illuminate the historic grounds.
- 2020 Dates: December 4th and 5th from 5-9 PM.

A Candlelight Christmas will always share a special place in my heart and I know I’m not the only one. For me, it started with a move half-way across the country right after graduating from college. I was living in an apartment in an old house in the Historic Oakwood district of Raleigh, NC, and had to work over the holiday. For the first time ever, I wasn’t going to be spending Christmas with my family and it made me terribly homesick. The only thing that made it better was the walk I would take each day through my neighborhood. Much like the Twickenham district here in Huntsville, many of the old homes were grandly decorated for the holidays with candlelight in the windows. Since that time, simple candlelight decorations have always been my favorite holiday window dressing.
So, you can imagine how excited I am to see the beautiful grounds of Burritt on the Mountain all gussied up with more than 600 candles illuminating the ground. You and your entire family can wander throughout the park listening to various musical groups performing a variety of holiday classics. There will also be opportunities to see time-honored handicrafts and Christmas traditions demonstrated throughout the historic houses.
Candlelight Christmas Updates for 2020
Burritt will again be selling car passes and will have all COVID-19 protocols in place so you can enjoy the Magic of the Mountain socially distanced. Kris Kringle is working from home right now, staying healthy for the big night, but you can still share your Christmas wishes with him! When you head to Candlelight Christmas your child can mail their list in our exclusive Santa’s Super Special mailbox! No postage required, and we’ll speed your requests right to Santa’s workshop.
Burritt will still have the music you love in four of their largest venues for safety. Activities for the kids and goodies for all will be spread throughout the site to ensure plenty of space for social distancing.
To ensure that every visitor is guaranteed admission and a parking space, and therefore can enjoy the evening to the fullest, they will be selling limited tickets for each night. All tickets will be sold in advance. It’s a touch of Christmas past at Burritt on the Mountain’s Candlelight Christmas.
