Arts Roundup: It’s All About the DRAMA!

In honor of National Arts & Humanities Month, they are making it easy for families to learn more about The Arts in Huntsville with this Arts Roundup series on RCM.[/themify_box]

If your child has a flair for the dramatic, or just can’t stop dancing and singing around the house, direct that energy to the stage! Here are some local kid’s theatre and dance companies that get your kid engaged, active and performing.

Fantasy Playhouse Children’s TheatreFantasy Playhouse

Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theatre offers academy classes for ages 3 to adult, including creative drama, acting, musical theatre, dance, technical theatre, performances showcases and theme classes. Fall Class registration is currently open! Fantasy Playhouse also operates as a community theatre, producing four shows a season, with open auditions to the public.

Theatre Huntsville

Theatre Huntsville not only hosts open auditions for their plays, but also offers opportunities to volunteers in technical design, backstage crew and performance ushers.

Independent Musical Productions

For 25 years, Independent Musical Productions (IMP) has showcased local musical talent through productions of Broadway and cult favorites. IMP hosts open auditions for their productions, as well as offering volunteer opportunities in everything from props management to sets, costumes, house and crew (better suited for your teens).

Huntsville M.E.T.

Newer to the scene, Huntsville M.E.T. produces broadway favorites (like their premiere production The Jungle Book, featuring these stunning hand-made, life-size animal puppets) to original musical revues, like I Couldn’t Have Said It Better Myself.

Lyrique Musical Productions

Lyrique Musical Productions has produced such famous musicals as In the Heights, Hairspray, and Legally Blonde. The company is headed by Broadway alum Luz Tolentino-Ladrillono, who has a knack for drawing jaw-dropping talent out of the young actors. Auditions are open to all ages.
