Women from all over Huntsville and North Alabama have a chance to party with purpose at the 2017 Mom Prom! Moms and their friends are invited to shake what THEIR mama gave them, let their hair down (or put it in a gorgeous updo!), and come together for one spectacular night that just so happens to be for a great cause… ICAN of Huntsville.
What Happens at a Mom Prom?
This event will include many elements of a typical high school prom including the crowning of a prom queen, as well as a photo booth, professional event photographers, silent auction, a glamorous red carpet, and swag bags.
There are a few things that make Mom Prom different from the prom you might have attended back in high school. It’s a ladies-only event, but you don’t have to be a mom to join in on the fun. Tickets include one alcoholic drink ticket, non-alcoholic drinks, delicious hor d’oeuvres, and desserts by Mason Dixon Bakery. Additional alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at a cash bar during the event. #NotHighSchool
But What Should I Wear?
A great question – we’re glad you asked! According to Elise Schultz, Huntsville Mom Prom Committee Member and ICAN of Huntsville Co-Leader, you can go in a couple of different directions with fashion choices for the evening.
“It’s a great ladies night out where you can wear one of those old bridesmaid dresses gathering dust in your closet or even your wedding dress! Some use it as a challenge to find a thrift store dress or as an excuse to go buy a new dress.”
At past year’s proms, some groups of friends have even coordinated super hero dresses or made it a theme night from the Roaring Twenties. Whatever you do, and whatever you wear, this night should be stress-free and FUN!
Hosting this event is the International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN) of Huntsville. ICAN is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by reducing preventable cesareans through education, supporting cesarean recovery, and advocating for vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). Alabama’s cesarean rate of 35.4 percent means that more than one out of three women who give birth will have a cesarean delivery.
Guess what? You can win a pair of tickets to the Huntsville Mom Prom! It’s easy to enter – just get started in the Rafflecopter box at the bottom of this post. We’ll draw a winner on May 8th!
