Free and Cheap Summer Movies in Huntsville and North Alabama

Looking for a way to get out of the house with the kids but stay in the air conditioning and not spend a fortune? Look no further than the free and cheap summer movies offered by various local theaters. There’s not much more classic than enjoying a family night together at the movies – both indoors and under the stars!

Editor’s Note: We do our best to keep this list up to date but encourage you to call the theater to verify the showing before you get there. At the time of publication, some details are TBD. We’ll update them here as more details are official.

This is a 8-week program that provides parents and their children a safe, fun, entertainment experience this summer. Each week they will show re-released classic G- and PG-rated family-friendly film. Movies start at 10AM and this year the movies will be shown Monday-Thursday each of the 8 weeks! Cost is $1.50 per show and reservations can be made online.

Free Summer Movies for Kids in Athens

This mom & pop movie theatre in Athens is opening it’s doors early every Saturday in June for some family-friendly screenings to benefit Limestone County Churches. They will be accepting canned goods at the doors but note that this is not required to watch the movie. Showings are at 9AM, doors open at 8AM.

Free Summer Movies at Madison Library

This free movie series takes place at the Madison Library every Wednesday from June 1 – July 13 at 2PM. Take a break and enjoy some family-friendly fun in air conditioned comfort (while also getting out of the house).

Join Downtown Huntsville Inc. & the City of Huntsville for free movies in Constitution Park. Live music performances will take place starting at 7:30 p.m. with the movie beginning at sundown.

Movies in Providence Park

The Village of Providence will once again be hosting outdoor screenings in their own park, the large green space on Providence Main Street right next to Mellow Mushroom. Chairs and blankets encouraged, but please, support our local restaurants and businesses that make these events possible with no outside food or drink. Movie schedule updates will be announced on the Village of Providence Facebook page.

Outdoor Movies at Madison Library: Summer of 1982

Madison Library invites you to join them in the time machine as they head back to 1982 to enjoy a series of films from the era. On select Fridays in June and July they will be hosting screenings outside the library. The fun starts at 7PM, movies begin at dusk. Come early to enjoy special activities before each film.
