Free Guntersville boat tours offered to healthcare families May 14-17

Lake and River Fun Cruises and Boat Tours in Guntersville, AL, is kicking off the 2020 season with a big “Thank You” to area healthcare heroes by offering free rides for them and their families from May 14-17.

Bringing Boat Tours to Guntersville Lake

Now in its second season, the tour company is run by Captain Mark Mills and First Mate Bren Owens. Mills is from the Chicago area and in addition to a first career that included tire and auto repair and race car driving, he also spent 10 seasons with Shoreline Sightseeing, and is a certified diver. Owens is an Albertville native who grew up enjoying Guntersville Lake. She also worked for Shoreline Sightseeing in Chicago, Oklahoma City River Cruises and The American Queen Riverboat.

As they searched for their next adventure, Lake Guntersville was an obvious choice for its beauty and relative quiet. Their first season on the lake went very well and they are looking forward to another great year – with a few changes.

Boating During a Pandemic

“We will be keeping 6 ft social distancing, we have hand sanitizer, and we will sanitizing the boat between trips. Masks are highly encouraged,” says Owens. To remain Covid compliant they redid the seating arrangements and reduced capacity to 10 people per cruise.

Thank You to Local Heroes

When asked about their decision to offer these free rides, Mills replied. “It seemed like the right thing to do. We wanted to give back to the area and this is what we could do. It just sort of fell into place.”
