Vincent Rutherford Equality March

October 1 @ 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Free

The Pride Parade is a time honored tradition commemorating the protest on the anniversary of the Stonewall riots of 1969. As the years have passed, this has become a celebration of visibility, while continuing to protest until true equality exists.

This year, the Vincent Rutherford Equality March will feature Carmarion D Anderson-Harvey as Grand Marshal. Carmarion is the Alabama State Director for Human Rights Campaign and a woman of trans experience. Vincent Rutherford was one of the founders of Rocket City Pride and his love of the community has continued to live on.

Join as North Alabamians of all ages line the streets downtown for this crowd favorite, the 10th annual parade. This year, there will be a full block of the route designated as a Quiet Zone. This will be an accessible area for folks with sensory concerns. There will be no loud sounds or flashing lights in this area, only the parade participants cruising by with waves and smiles. The exact location will be included when the route is published.
