The Moms and Midwives Walk
Sun 4th @ 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Free
The Mom Foundation is raising awareness of the vital role of midwives in maternal health care in Alabama. Both Certified Professional Midwives (CPM) and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) play a crucial role in improving birth outcomes in our state. The Midwifery Model of Care has been proven to decrease infant and maternal morbidity and mortality. Doulas are another integral piece of the evidence-based solution to the maternal healthcare crisis. More Alabama moms deserve to have the option to experience the life-saving support of midwives and doulas, but too often find this level of care outside of their financial reach.
We also believe that keeping mothers active throughout pregnancy is key to helping them achieve a better birth outcome. Therefore, for the second year in a row, we have chosen a lovely spring 2-mile walk to highlight the crucial relationship between mothers and midwives.
There will also be food trucks and live music!
When: May 4 | 3:00-5:30 PM
Cost: FREE
We encourage everyone to come dressed to walk. Parking is in the downtown parking garage or in the lot behind Big Spring Park East. This year’s event will be on the West Side of Church Street.
