Rocket Park & Pathfinder
Fri 15th @ 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Free – $30The first phase of our beautifully renovated Rocket Park is ready for launch! Wander Rocket Row and learn about the advances in space exploration made possible by the Mercury Redstone, Juno II, Jupiter, Jupiter C, U.S. Army Redstone, and the Saturn I. You can also check out a section of the SLS Core Stage Pathfinder and marvel at the technology that is taking us back to the Moon with the Artemis program. Take a seat in our new amphitheater and marvel at the stellar achievements of the Rocket City. Also, while you are here, you can check out our newly refurbished and stacked shuttle, Pathfinder! The iconic Pathfinder Shuttle Stack stands as a testament to the 30-year program that moved humans from a space-launch people to a space-dwelling people. The space shuttle’s main engines, external fuel tank and solid rocket boosters—the heart that powered the shuttle fleet—were designed, manufactured, and built in Alabama. The Space Transportation System (STS) includes two solid rocket boosters, genuine space shuttle main engine nozzles and a genuine external tank. The STS is flanked by a T-38, a twin-engine supersonic jet used in astronaut training, and the Shuttle Training Aircraft (STA), the only one of NASA’s four modified Gulfstream II aircraft on display anywhere in the world.
