This year promises to be the biggest and best Equality March in the history of the Rocket City.
Do you own a business? Go to a supportive church? Are you in a community group? If so, grab a few friends and a banner or, better yet, build a float or enter a car. Feel free to be as creative as possible while promoting your business, church, group, etc. Don’t forget the beads, candy, flyers, and water as the crowd always loves freebies!
You don’t need to register to walk, but we do ask you register your car or float. It’s FREE and simple to register the link on this page. You will also find a map of the parade here so you can get your friends to come cheer you on.
Staging for the parade will take place on Sunday June 10th at 4:00 pm at Lot K across the street from the Post Office on Clinton Ave. Plenty of parking is available all over downtown, so please come support us!
Tennessee Valley Rocket City Pride (formerly Rocket City Pride) is a perfect opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate our diversity. It demonstrates how LGBTQ and Ally community members work together to foster acceptance, love, education, support, and happiness.
This year, Pride will be a series of events and activities that begin on Sunday, June 10th and conclude on Saturday, June 16th. There will be activities, information, and entertainment for all ages. Adult and youth drag shows, face painting, bowling, water slide, music, caricature artists, and much more! Animals are welcome (on leashes). Bring a picnic or indulge in the tasty offerings of Campus 805 restaurants and vendors.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Here at Rocket City Mom our mission is to make parenting in Huntsville easier. That’s it. We share information about events, activities, resources, whatever. If it’s something that local parents will find interesting, we share it here. To be clear – if your family is not accepting or tolerant of people who are gay, then you SHOULD NOT attend this parade or event. But there are MANY families in the Tennessee Valley who have someone in their lives (parent, child, relative, friend) who is gay and they want to show their support and PRIDE for those people by attending such events. We hope all of our readers can appreciate this, but if by including this event Rocket City Mom has lost your readership then we’ll save you the hassle of emailing us and just take this opportunity to say adieu.
