1:00-2:00 Coordinators and Judges arrive and prepare for Inventors Day program.
2:00-2:30 Families place their inventions on the tables based on grade level of inventor. Be sure to spend this time talking with the judges and sharing information about your inventions that might not be readily apparent.
2:30-2:45 Participants sit in the chairs at the front of the room. Martha Williams opens the program with information about Mensa Kids Trek and other invention contests.
2:45-3:15 Families use “Genius Kits” to create on-site inventions. Approximately thirty minutes are allowed to make something from the items in the kits.
3:15-3:30 Families share their creations.
3:30-3:55 Martha Williams introduces the judges. The judges announce the winners and award the trophies. Every participant receives a certificate. Every invention receives a ribbon. There are eight smaller trophies and one large trophy. One invention from each grade level will receive a trophy. The large trophy is for the best invention of the day. If there is no entry on any grade level, no trophy will be given for that table. The trophy will be saved for next year’s competition.
3:55-4:00 Martha Williams thanks the judges, encourages children to thank their families and friends for their support, and closes the program. Families will need to have inventions out of the library no later than 4:45.
