High School Summer Hike Series
Tue 30th @ 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
FreeDuring our High School Summer Hike Series, we’ll explore biological oddities around us in North Alabama! Through this experience, teens can follow some of our natural world’s most bizarre and surreal aspects and how this oddness reflects its ecological uniqueness. We’ll reveal more questions than we answer and tear into local examples of weirdness at work.
What is Weird? On this first outing, get to know your fellow explorers and cover well-trodden trails at Green Mountain Nature Preserve. Each participant will receive a field journal and discuss the basics of scientific field journaling and ethnography. Establish with your group what exactly “weird” means in a natural context.
What to Bring: We recommend closed toe shoes, long pants, bug spray, sunscreen, and water.
If this event has to be canceled due to weather or trail conditions, we will send a notification to the email address you use to register.
