CANCELED: Death at the Park: A Haunting History of Grief
Fri 18th @ 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
$13 – $15This event has been canceled.
Join us for an evening of storytelling as we unveil the haunting history of grief in centuries past at Alabama Constitution Hall. Beyond the black veils and dresses of the 1800s, there was a mourning culture reflecting people’s connection to death. Explore the history behind the customs and rituals that might seem bizarre to us today.
Why were pictures taken of loved ones after they died? How did West Africa influence mourning rituals? Why would you make art out of human hair? All of this will be examined while guests enjoy haunting crafts and photo ops! Guests are encouraged to dress for death to show off their best mourning outfits. This event will feature information that can be considered sensitive. It is appropriate for ages 13+.
When: October 18 & 19 | 5:30-7:30 PM
Cost: $13 for members, $15 for non-members
