Commemorate the Underground Railroad: Journey to Freedom on Saturday February 18th celebrating the resistance against slavery. Come learn the history of the Underground Railroad, immerse yourself in the stories of some of the secret journeys, and hear how the stories themselves were passed on. Experience an interactive trip through Burritt’s Historic Park when you put yourself in the shoes of one of the brave individuals who resisted slavery. Learn about the history of African American education and how communities persevered to learn and grow, while you explore our Rosenwald School. Kids can enjoy crafts inspired by the incredible journeys and folk arts of Black Alabamians.
