Founded in 2011 as the first community printshop in Alabama, the Green Pea Press Printmaking Collective offers memberships to local artists and workshops in various printmaking media. Studio 122 at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment is our original printmaking studio, equipped for letterpress, intaglio, relief and monotype printing. Our Screen Shop is located down the street on Governors Drive, with full screen printing facilities for paper and apparel.
Members can reserve access to printing facilities, receive discounts on classes, participate in group shows and collaborations, and sell their work on consignment in The Pea Pod, our retail shop in Studio 111. We currently have over 25 members at three different membership levels, with planning meetings and Open Studio sessions held monthly. Our Annual International Print Exchange and Annual Letterpress Fundraising Calendar are our two largest projects, but we also incorporate collaborative projects throughout the year, including our popular Downtown Huntsville Ink event, where we print t-shirts directly from the decorative manhole covers in downtown Huntsville.
