Crack Open the Holidays With The Huntsville Ballet

Updated for 2017

I’ve seen at least ten different versions of The Nutcracker in my lifetime, but my favorite will always be when I was eleven years old and watching Huntsville Ballet’s Loyd Tygett literally fly through the air as the mysterious Herr Drosselmeyer. The late Mr. Tygett now has a special place in Huntsville’s history of The Arts, and I’m sure I’m not the only little-girl-turned-grownup that remembers the spell he cast onstage.

The regal loveliness of the Sugar Plum Fairy!
The adorable energy of the Chinese dancers!
Mother Ginger and her giant ball gown!
The music, the culture, the costumes!
The evil Rat King!
How can you NOT take your kids to experience this Huntsville holiday staple?

The Mouse Army attacks – with real cannon explosions!

Huntsville Ballet’s production this year not only performs Tchaikovsky’s timeless piece with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, but also partners with the ethereal voices of Ars Nova. You’re getting two performances in one, both worth their weight in gold.

What little girl doesn’t want to fly away in a walnut shell?
