Schwerman Christmas Tree Plantation

1973 was the beginning of the Lacey’s Spring Christmas Tree Plantation, the new owner planted 20,000 Virginia Pines in expectation of Christmas trees springing from the land. However they took 5 years or more and a lot of hard work before they were ready to grace someone’s home. Since then the tree farm has become a Huntsville and surrounding area tradition for families that believe in a natural Christmas tree for the holidays. In July 2002, this tradition passed to the Schwermans. Offering: field trips, train rides for children, snacks, soft drinks, hot drinks, and other items may be customized on request. Santa visits often! Trees include: Virgina or White Pine, Leyland Cypress, or Carolina Sapphire.

Shell Tree Farm

When Shell Tree Farm was started as a family business back in 1983, their vision was to create much more than just a place to get a fresh tree. The goal was to offer a family experience, with the motto of “Start a family tradition”. Shell Tree Farm now has some families that have been coming for three generations. The experience includes: hot apple cider from the old wood cook stove, mule and wagon rides, Santa, gift shop, wreath and garland making, and bonfires. With over 3000 trees to choose from, they offer both “cut your own” as well as cutting services, and are open the first weekend in November for early tagging. See the full schedule of special events and Santa visits online.
