Carnegie Carnival Rolls Out Family Fun

Featuring bright lights and exciting costumes, the Carnegie Carnival concludes with a parade.

If you’re looking for some family-friendly Mardi Gras fun this weekend, the annual Carnegie Carnival will be returning to downtown Decatur on Saturday, February 13. Families of all ages can find something to do whether it be the drive-thru parade, rock scavenger hunt, the 13.1 mile Carnival race, a canine costume contest and dog walk, or live performance line ups.

Run Straight to the Fun with the Carnival Frolic

The festivities kick off at 7 a.m. with the Carnival Frolic. This 13.1 mile race winds through the historic districts, along the Tennessee River and through Point Mallard Park. A virtual option is also available to those that would prefer to social distance and friends can team up to run 5K portions of the race instead of the entire distance. Registration should be completed ahead of the race here.

Go on a Rockin’ Scavenger Hunt

Bring the kids for an exciting rock scavenger hunt along 2nd Avenue. Starting at 10 a.m. families can collect a bag and directions under the awning of the Princess Theatre. Children can then follow the clues and hunt for rocks along 2nd Avenue for a chance to win prizes. All prizes will be announced on Facebook live at 12:15 p.m. and families can take advantage of lunch specials at local downtown restaurants. Check out more details here.

Have a Doggone Good Time During Carnival Canines on Parade
