Broadway Theatre League

Spending time and having fun with family is what the holidays are all about. What’s more fun than seeing a Broadway show? Maybe it’s seeing a Broadway show in your hometown! None of the inconveniences of travel or busy New York City streets but all of the fun, music, laughter and magic of the Great White Way. That’s what Broadway Theatre League brings to Huntsville every year and the holidays is a great time to share in the magic.
This year, BTL kicks off the holiday season on November 18-20 with the family-friendly show Shrek the Musical. Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film, this show brings everyone’s favorite ogre to life on stage. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a villain with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Ticket prices for this show start at $37 for adults and $27 for children 17 and under.
To check out the entire season of award-winning plays and musicals the Broadway Theatre League is bringing to Huntsville or just to learn more about Shrek the Musical, visit their website at www.broadwaytheatreleague.org.

My favorite musical is Les Miserables. Love the story and most importantly, the music!
I am ashamed to admit I have never seen a ‘rea’ Broadway show….I have seen lots of high school productions, though, and I loved Oklahoma. Would love for my first to be Shrek with the kids!!!!!
Christa – I imagine there are lots of people that haven’t seen something on Broadway. I just meant “Broadway show” in the terms of it was at one time performed on Broadway. Although I did see a show once in NY, the only musical I’ve seen (outside of local productions) is Wicked and I saw that in Chicago!
I also love Les Miserables. We saw it on Broadway when I was 14 and I fell in love. I still find myself singing the songs when I clean!
So many to choose from. I am not sure I could name just one. Les Mes., Shreck, Fiddler on the roof.
Big River, because it’s the first one I saw and I grew up on the Mississippi.
Musicals are my favorite movie category. So for movies it is Singing in the Rain. For on stage my favorite is Wicked. It was performed at a local art highat school theater. The kids were great. So much energy.
Loved all the ones I have seen . . . Lion King, Les Mis, Phantom of the Opera, and Wicked.
My favorite musical (and favorite show and movie) of all time is The Sound of Music. I like pretty much all of them, but TSOM is the best for sure.
It would be hard to pick a favorite – I’ve seen upwards of 13 shows on Broadway (some multiple times), but my top favorites are Beauty and the Beast, Rent, and Chicago. I think I could have one favorite…if I can see Lion King!
My favorite musical is the Lion King. The Music, the animals, and the story just get me every time I see it.
The Sound of Music would probably be my favorite because it reminds me of my childhood.
My son loves Shrek and I would love to take him. My husband and I saw Chicago when it was in hsv so I guess that would be my fav.
I love BTL! My favorite show I have seen them perform is Annie from about three years ago. They are always fantastic!
My favorite musical of all time is Les Miserables. I never get tired of it. But honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a musical that I didn’t like. BTL does a wonderful job of bringing quality shows to Huntsville!
My favorite musical is Wicked , I love the music and the story is a great one (:
Hard to pick a favorite.. probably a classic like West Side Story
My most favorite musical would have to be Les Miserables!!!

I’ve only seen a few real Broadway shows, and a a few off-Broadway. Les Mis is my absolute favorite, but I also loved Avenue Q.
It’s a tie between Wicked and The Lion King. Both musicals have great story lines, beautiful set designs and amazing music!!
