BOOtanica at Huntsville Botanical Garden is “Scary” Fun

I’m a big old scaredy cat and while I’m not ashamed one bit of that fact, it’s important to know so you read this review fully informed.

It's not a witch costume if your face isn't green!

If your idea of a good time at Halloween is terrifying chills and really creepy, scary fun then DO NOT GO TO BOOtanica. The only thing “scary” about this annual Halloween event is how much non-spooky fun can be had and how much your family (especially if you have little bitties) will LOVE it. So, if you are in search of the tamer side of Halloween filled with daylight hayrides, sorghum maze, scarecrows that look like TV characters, decidedly non-spooky but still seasonal crafts, and the cutest little costume parade you’ve ever seen, then head to the Garden this Saturday and have your camera ready.

[/sws_pullquote_left] My family’s love of the Huntsville Botanical Garden is well documented and we’ve been going to BOOtanica for the last couple of years and have never been disappointed. Steve the DJ makes his regular appearance, he’s at most HSVBG special events, and watching your little ones hula hoop to “Monster Mash” is always fun. Most of the fun takes place in the Children’s Garden but do be sure to walk around the Scarecrow Trail and check out all the great characters. MOM TIP: Almost all children are dressed in costume and if yours isn’t they’ll feel left out. That said, it can get hot and costumes can get itchy so be prepared with something underneath or a second outfit for them to change into.
