Not everyone is able to head to the beach or take a roadtrip during Spring Break, but that doesn’t mean it has to be ho-hum! If you are trying to stay local during this year’s break, here are some kid-friendly excursions in Huntsville & North Alabama that will help you (and your budget!) stay sane.
Spring Break Staycation Fun in Huntsville
We tried to pull together a list of fun things to do during each day of Spring Break. Even if you’re headed to one of the local Spring Break Camps, you’ll still need ideas for the weekends! The itinerary below is coordinated so that it’s possible to do everything on our Best Picks list, but there is a little wiggle room if you opt out of the special events.
SATURDAY, MARCH 8
Mostly Cloudy. High 66°
Take advantage of the warmth! Head up to Burritt on the Mountain to check out their lastest exhibit History Lives on: Preserving Alabama’s Rosenwald Schools. Did you know Alabama was once home to more than 400 Rosenwald Schools, built to provide education to Black students in the early 1900s? Explore this exhibit and learn about their incredible history. This is one of those exhibits that makes you stop and think. It’s eye-opening, inspiring, and a must-see for families who love history. Grab the kids and make a day of it—Burritt always has something fun to explore! Children can dig in a garden, try their luck at panning for gems, and experience a day at school using slates and chalk. Don’t forget to visit “Boxy,” Burritt’s faux cow, for a hands-on milking experience that kids won’t soon forget.
SUNDAY, MARCH 9
Times of sun and clouds- a bit cooler, high 56°
Head out to Bridge Street and stop by Magnolia Soap & Bath Company for Pop-In & DIY Paint Your Own Bath Bombs and Make Your Own Bath Bombs.
