Dinosaurs, Pirates and Books, Oh My!
I know, I know. You are reading the site today in eager anticipation of our education series “Huntsville’s Hot Mess” and now you are wondering, “What is all this?” Well, dear reader, there is a ridiculous amount going on this weekend in and around Huntsville and I’ve got free tickets for a lot of it. So that you can plan your weekend in advance, I’m running a very short give-a-way that ends Wednesday at Noon. I promise next week we will return to our regularly scheduled programming.
How to Enter
Entering is easy, all you have to do is fill out our Mom Recommended Directory form (located on the right sidebar) with the name of a business or service that you have personally used and would recommend to a friend. In the Message section, in addition to your “testimony” about the business, please specify which contest you want to be entered in. You’ll need to fill out a different form for each entry so if you want to be entered to win all three, you’ll need to recommend three different businesses. Keep in mind, while we are interested in any business that caters to children/mothers/families, we can also use recommendations for services (e.g. plumbers, mechanics, housecleaners, vets, etc.).

Huntsville Stars and Pirates of the Caribbean 4
This Friday is Dress Like a Pirate Day at Joe Davis Stadium. Wear your buccaneer garb to the game and you’ll get free admission into the midnight showing of Pirates 4 at the Rave Motion Picture theater next door. That’s a game and a movie for $8 (adults) $5 (12 and under). Obviously, not for little kids but how much fun for children that are just a little older and you can’t beat the price (unless you win them for free!). I’m giving away a family four-pack of tickets for this event. The winner will be notified by email and tickets will be left at will call. -
Dinosaurs at the Space Center
A T rex named Sue and Be the Dinosaur are both part of the newest exhibit to open at the US Space and Rocket Center. If you have a dinosaur enthusiast in your home, you don’t want to miss this! On opening day (May 21st) there will be a children’s activity area from 9am-3pm featuring music, a bouncer, make your own fossil activity, dig for your own fossil and temporary tattoo station. I’ve got a family-four-pack of tickets to give away for the opening day event. This includes admission to the Dinosaur exhibits as well as the entire US Space and Rocket Center!

The Great Big Book Bash
The Library Foundation’s Annual kick-off to summer reading is back to give children and families a chance to interact with their favorite authors. Two sessions will be hosted featuring two different authors. The morning session is focused on children pre-school age to 2nd grade and will feature “song singer, tale teller, music maker” NY Times Best-Selling Author Eric Litwin, author of Pete the Cat. The afternoon session is focused on older elementary and middle-school students and will feature Sam Bartlett, musician and author of Stuntology. Sam is a 25-year master entertainer and tour guide to the fabulous world of Stuntology. Advance tickets are $5 for a single session, $8 for both sessions. The day of the event, single sessions will be $8, and both will run $13. I’ve got a set of four tickets (covers both sessions) for one lucky family looking to meet some really cool authors!
Contest Note: I’ll draw winners at noon on Wednesday with the help of Random.org and then announce on Facebook and Twitter in addition to contacting them by the email they submit. If you win but don’t respond to my email in 24 hours, I’ll draw another winner. Good luck!
