Why I tried cloth diapering with wool: I love knowing that my baby is sleeping in something breathable and healthy for her skin. I love that wool is part of a choice we made to reduce how much trash we generate and helps us achieve our goal of living a more environmentally sustainable lifestyle.

My Halloween obsession runs deep and while I’ve always wanted to be pregnant at Halloween, I have NO IDEA what I’m dressing up as this year! My family goes all out for the big day, and I feel like I’m totally down to the wire for getting any costumes lined up! It’s tempting to run […]

My journey into motherhood began at Thanksgiving, ten years ago. We were living in a new state with new jobs a thousand miles from family and I desperately wanted to be a mom. Seeing those two lines on the stick made my heart leap with excitement and my stomach do nervous somersaults. My sweet baby […]

April is Autism Awareness Month in Huntsville and it is a great time for us to educate ourselves about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The behaviors that define Autism manifest themselves to varying degrees and affect individuals differently, which is why it is considered a “spectrum disorder”.
Taking on too much and not having a plan on how to get there is a good recipe for failure. We’ve all been there. We say “Ugh, I have GOT to lose 20 pounds this year.” And then we spend the rest of the year thinking about how we still need to lose 20 pounds, and beating ourselves up as we grab a quick lunch in the fast food drive-thru.
The newly opened Original Public House on South Memorial Parkway is Huntsville’s latest dining option. With an eclectic menu of traditional Irish fare infused with a Southern flair, diners are offered a variety of meal choices ranging from sandwiches ($10-12) to stews and of course fish & ships. Prices are reasonable and the menu tops […]
There are many joys and benefits of living near family. This past year has been the first time in my adult life that I have lived near my parents. They moved to Huntsville a little over a year ago and it has been wonderful seeing my boys get to know them better. Swim dates after […]
Hi, my name is Meg, and I’m a Halloweenaholic. It’s that time of year when the cool breezes bring relief after months of sweating. The changing and falling leaves stir up cravings for a Tate Farms pumpkin slushie. And ALL I want to do is get crazy about Halloween. Everything about Halloween appeals to me. […]

When the New Year rolls around I always feel a little guilty thinking that I should be making grand self-improvement plans when really I just want to get the kids back to school and catch my breath. I have friends who talk about their resolutions, and the goal setting they’ve done, and to be honest […]
Tick-tock, tick-tock, the Halloween countdown is in its final hours. Are you ready? Or are you frantically poring over Pinterest trying to find something to make that won’t have you burning the midnight oil all week? I’ve combed the interwebs to their very ends and I think I’ve found some winners for you. Admittedly, I’m […]
Last winter a friend who sends her kids to gymnastics class at The Matrix happened to mention that they offered an open gym time. This news was music to my ears since the cold, rainy weather had given us cabin fever. My 3 year-old was immediately hooked and it became our Friday morning ritual. When […]
A few years ago, as a Midwestern native, I was struggling to adjust to summer in Alabama. The heat & humidity were enough to make me crazy, and to top it off I had an 8-month-old baby whose new favorite game was practicing his future gym class rope climb on my ponytail. I had never […]

Spring Valley Beach is home to the Southeast’s largest pool (measuring in at a whopping 2 acres!), loads of fun water slides for a wide range of ages, a fantastic kiddie play area, and plentiful amenities for […]
Early summer is one of my favorite times of the year. So many fruits and veggies are coming into season, I feel like a kid in a candy store when I hit the local farmer’s market to stock up on goodies. With several new markets starting up this year, I can find fresh-picked produce nearly […]
