Happy October, RCM readers! It’s the time of year to welcome pumpkins, apple cider, and all things pumpkin spice. Fall is such a great time in Athens because we have so many fall festivals taking place. There are many traditional events that happen in Athens this time of year, so get out and experience what our amazing town has to offer!

Don’t Forget: Fall break for the county is Oct. 7-11 and Oct. 7-9 for the City. Schools will be closed!

Special Athens, AL Events in October

53rd Annual Old Time Tennessee Valley Fiddlers’ Convention

Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 3-5, 7 PM Friday, all day Saturday

This is a time-honored tradition in Athens! At the Fiddlers’ Convention, your family will get to hear some of the best bluegrass musicians in the country. Along with the competition stage, musicians get together throughout campus to improvise music and dancing. Not only is there great music all weekend, but there are over 150 arts, crafts, and food vendors, so wear your shopping shoes! Insider tip: bring your blankets and camp chairs, and don’t forget sunscreen for daytime and bug spray for evening attendance.

There will be activities for younger siblings during this time as well. This event is for the whole family, so please do not leave children unattended!
