6 Swoon Worthy Spots in Huntsville

On Valentine’s Day, or any day, these six Huntsville spots are some of our favorites to set the mood for you and your sweetie. We’re talking the perfect place to enjoy some cuddles, snuggles, and maybe a smooch if you’re lucky. While they may not exactly be hidden, they are all gems when it comes to romance.

1. Hays Nature Preserve

An open field of flowers near a flowing river. Need we say more? It’s not necessarily blooming in February, but by March Hays Nature Preserve serves up the best Mother Nature has to offer and it’s a great place spend a Sunday afternoon.

2. Rocket Park at Space and Rocket Center

While not a “traditionally” romantic spot, Rocket Park is hard to beat when it comes to appealing to the geeky boys and girls that call Huntsville home.

3. Big Spring Park – Grotto and Red Bridge

Another Huntsville favorite that is just oh so Rocket City. Big Spring Park actually boasts not one but two super swoon worthy spots to choose from. A picnic, some ducks, a stroll through the grotto and over the bridge. What’s more romantic than that?

4. Monte Sano Overlook

One of our very own got engaged on this overlook so we can vouch for its powers of seduction! Even if you’re not quite ready to walk the aisle or maybe you made that stroll 20 years ago, this is a great spot to take a special someone for some breathtaking views.

5. Twickenham

History buffs will love a daytime or nighttime walk through Huntsville’s Historic District. Featuring Federal, Italianate, and classical architecture, this area is Alabama’s largest antebellum district. The best part? You can take a free guided tour anytime you want courtesy of the new Digital Huntsville History Tour. Explorers can access narration and information on 40 different historical locations all from a mobile device!

6. Burritt on the Mountain

This list certainly wouldn’t be complete without a nod to what many consider to be the absolute best view of Huntsville and we wholeheartedly agree! Anytime of year a visit to this lookout is special but if you’re looking for an especially romantic time to visit their summer concert series is our personal favorite.
