Sparkman High Theater presents West Side Story

West Side Story is a musical with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. It was inspired by William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet. The story is set in the Upper West Side neighborhood in New York City in the mid 1950s, an ethnic, blue-collar neighborhood.

This family- and dog-friendly event returns to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center! Enjoy the festive atmosphere with imported and domestic beers and delicious wines from the German region. It’s family-friendly and leashed dogs are welcome on our Apollo Terrace and in Apollo Courtyard. Admission is free, and food and beverages are available for purchase. To support our local community, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is featuring a nonprofit organization each week, and a portion of food sales that evening will be donated to the organization.

This famous opera written by Mozart will be performed in concert. This comic opera is about two sisters who each have a lover who are military officers. Don Alfonso, a cynical bachelor, makes a bet with the two officers that their girl friends would easily fall in love with someone else. Pretending to ship out, the two lovers disguise themselves, and try to win over the other girl. Love is never a sure bet.

The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it.
