2018 Free & Cheap Summer Movies in Huntsville and North Alabama

&Looking for a way to get out of the house with the kids but stay in the air conditioning and not spend a fortune? Look no further than the free and cheap movies offered by various local theaters.

Editor’s Note: We do our best to keep this list up to date but encourage you to call the theater to verify the showing before you get there.

This is a 10-week program that provides parents and their children a safe, fun, entertainment experience this summer. Each Tuesday through Thursday, from June 6-August 8 they will show re-released classic G- and PG-rated family-friendly films. Movies start at 10 a.m. Cost is $5 for 10 movies or $1 per show.

For nine-weeks, Regal Cinemas will offer selected G or PG rated movies for only a dollar on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10AM. Both movies play on both days!

Note: A portion of proceeds from the Summer Movie Express will be donated to the Will Rogers Institute. Will Rogers uses the money to fund the institute’s mission in the areas of medical research and health education. The Regal Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity established by Regal Entertainment Group, also provides monetary grants to local Boys and Girls Clubs to bring club members to the Summer Movie Express.

Join AMC every Wednesday at 10 AM to see all your favorite kid-friendly films for nine weeks! Kid’s tickets are just $4 (plus tax) and includes a KidsPack of great AMC snacks, complete with a kid’s popcorn, fountain drink, and FrootiTooti fruit snacks. Offer valid at box office only at participating locations (note: AMC Valley Bend 18 is not participating this year; however, AMC CLASSIC Decatur 12 is!)

Starting June 5th, Cineplanet 15 in Madison will show a G or PG rated movie every Tuesday and Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM for $1 per seat. A $3 kid-size popcorn and drink combo will also be offered. Movie titles will be announced on their website and Facebook Page soon.

Movies in the Park has quickly become one of Huntsville’s most anticipated summer events. Family-friendly films are shown at sundown on a big inflatable screen in Big Spring Park on the second and fourth Fridays of June, July and August. Movies begin at sundown.

Movies in the Park (Providence)

The Village of Providence will once again be hosting outdoor screenings in their own park, the large green space on Providence Main Street right next to Mellow Mushroom. Movies will be held on the second Friday of each month throughout the summer, are free and open to the public, and begin at sundown (8:15-8:30PM). Chairs and blankets encouraged, but please, support our local restaurants and businesses that make these events possible with no outside food or drink.

Join us the Madison Public Library for free outdoor fun, sponsored by Renasant Bank! On select Fridays, they will screen a family-friendly movie on their new outdoor movie screen on the patio. Bring your blanket or chairs; popcorn will be served! Movie starts at sunset, so come early to grab your spot.
