“Host of Christmas Past” in Fayetteville
Every year during the second weekend of November the small town of Fayetteville comes alive with its traditional “Host of Christmas Past.” This friendly small town offers free parking, great food, carriage rides, homemade snow, high tea, and nonstop entertainment. Of course, Santa will be present! Begin your visit on Friday afternoon to our beautiful Downtown all decorated for the holiday season. Friday evening following the Annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree at 5:00 pm, enjoy live music from the Bandstand on the Courthouse Lawn and stroll the square as many businesses will be open late.
Bridge Street Christmas Tree Lighting
Bridge Street Town Centre will light up like a winter wonderland to welcome Santa. The evening’s merriment features musical entertainment, strolling Victorian carolers and the lighting of the 45-foot-tall Christmas tree followed by a spectacular fireworks show from the lake choreographed to holiday music. Musical entertainment begins at 4:30, with the Christmas Tree lighting at 6PM and fireworks at 6:30. Carousel rides are only $1 per person all day!
Light Show at the Athens Christmas Open House
The Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce and Athens Main Street is proud to announce the 31st Annual Christmas Open House event in Downtown Athens on November 17-19, which features a special Christmas Light Show on Saturday night at 8PM. Village of Providence Tree Lighting
Join us in Providence Park for the 8th annual tree lighting event, where we will have games, activities and pictures with Santa free with a new unwrapped toy for Toys-for-Tots. The event starts at 4:00 p.m., with Santa arriving at 4:30 p.m. via firetruck. and the tree lighting at 6:30 p.m. Help bring Christmas to local children in need by dropping a new unwrapped toy off at any participating Village of Providence business before Monday, December 5th! Please note, there is no outside food or drink at this event. attendees are encouraged to visit one of our local restaurants for all your food and beverage needs.
Christmas in the Park – Arab
Arab City Park is a must-see during the holiday season. Featuring more than 1 million lights and new displays, the park will be ablaze with the magic and beauty of Christmas. Kick things off with the formal tree lighting ceremony on Friday, November 24th at 6PM! Visitors can then stroll along the sidewalks and pathways within the park. Arab Historic Village transforms into a winter wonderland complete with Santa’s Toy Shop and his elves and Santa himself! Children can sit in Santa’s lap and have their photo taken, decorate a cookie or write a letter to Santa. Children can also take home Reindeer food, made in the old Grist Mill, and there is live music at the Rice Church, located in the village.

Ardmore’s Lighting at the Park
The Town of Ardmore will host the Lighting at the Park on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. The ceremony, which will begin with the Ardmore High School Jazz Band playing at 6:00 p.m., will take place at Town Hall with the Greater Ardmore Chamber Tinsel Tree lighting.
Redstone Arsenal Community Tree Lighting
The annual Redstone Arsenal Community Tree Lighting is a FREE event that is open to the Team Redstone Community. We will have Festive Treats, Kids Activities and so much more! Tree Lighting Ceremony will start at 5:30 p.m. and there will be FREE pictures with Santa as well as a Home Depot Santa’s Workshop. Don’t forget, we are a Toys for Tots Huntsville drop off station!
Holiday Lane at Sharon Johnston Park
Stroll down Holiday Lane at Sharon Johnston Park to view decorated trees and holiday cards created by local community members. Holiday Lane will be open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings until 9:00 pm during December. Free admission, though donations are welcome!
Snowflakes on City Hall
Snowflakes on City Hall presented by PNC features a holiday light show on the side of City Hall, above Tinsel Trail, every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in December (also the week leading up to Christmas for kids out on break!) from 5 to 10 pm. The light show by the supremely talented LED-Orange Projection Mapping is FREE, as is Tinsel Trail thanks to our generous sponsors. Come be amazed at how the side of a building can transform and add to the winter wonder of Big Spring Park!
Decatur Christmas Parade
This year’s Christmas parade is a Christmas in Toyland, so grab your nutcrackers, trains and drums – we can’t wait to see all of the creative floats this year! All proceeds from the event benefit local charities, and four cash prizes will be awarded for the following categories: Best Decorated Float, Best Walking Unit, Best Animal Unit and Best Decorated Vehicle.
Huntsville Christmas Parade
Mix 96.9 and the VBC are once again in charge of Huntsville’s huge annual Downtown Christmas parade to kick off the season! This year’s theme is The Carols of Christmas, and every participant has selected a song to portray – traditional, non-traditional…as long as it represents Christmas! Get there early for a good spot and allow plenty of time for parking. Be sure to look for your friends at Rocket City Mom in the parade!
Arab Christmas Parade
This year’s theme is “Christmas in Alabama” and as always, Santa will make his appearance at the end of the parade!
Scottsboro Christmas Parade
Jingle Bell Square will start off the day at 9AM with craft vendors and direct sales vendors; then, beginning at 4PM, the Annual Christmas Parade will begin on Broad Street at Collins Elementary School and will end at The Square. Shortly after 5PM, Santa Claus will arrive at The Bandstand on The Square and will greet children until 9PM. Immediately following Santa visits, the Jingle Bell 5K and Fun Run will take place. All day, there will be food trucks, live music, children’s activities, hot apple cider, horse & buggy rides, and much more!
Madison Christmas Parade
The Annual Madison Christmas Parade route will begin at Plaza Drive and Hughes Road and will continue to downtown Madison. Afterwards, gather for an old-fashioned celebration on the Village Green. Listen to carolers and instrumental music around the Roundhouse and sip hot chocolate at the Gazebo.
Parade of Lights at Joe Wheeler State Park
The Parade of Lights is a fun, festive family event that features more than a dozen yachts, pontoons and other watercraft all decorated creatively with lights for the holidays. Bring your own hot chocolate to watch the boats float by from the banks outside The Lodge at Joe Wheeler State Park. You can also watch the parade from inside the restaurant, where a special holiday buffet is served beginning at 4PM. Many families choose to rent a lodge room and watch from inside their room; all 75 lodge rooms have balconies that over look the lake and offer a great view for the parade!
Bridge Street Menorah Lighting
Come celebrate the start of Hanukkah with the annual lighting of the Menorah by Rabbi Moshe Cohen, presented by Chabad of Huntsville. The Menorah is a nine-branched candelabrum lit during the eight-day holiday of Hanukkah.The Menorah reminds us of the miracle of the Hanukkah lights, when only one day worth of oil burned for eight days after the Maccabees reclaimed the holy Temple.
5th Annual Lighting of Soldiers Tree
Rosie’s International Services, Inc presents 5th Annual Lighting of the Soldiers Tree, honoring our military soldiers and families. There will be music, art, singalongs, kids will make Christmas cards with a message to a soldier, art coloring for soldiers/retirees, veterans, and families. The lighting will be conducted by a military soldier.
Community Hanukkah Menorah Lighting
Temple B’nai Sholom invites the community to celebrate Chanukah by joining us in lighting the Chanukah menorah at Big Springs Park near the fountain.
