Happy Fall Break Week, Huntsville! I hope you’ve had a chance to relax, unwind, and spend some quality time with your friends and families, as well as had some good days to pursue our list of Fall Staycation ideas. Let’s enjoy the last few days before we go back to the grind, shall we? OUr Weekend Roundup is full of free and/or cheap family fun happening all over Huntsville and North Alabama.

Hopefully by now you’ve started on our Fall Must List and perused our GIANT Fall Activity Guide. (Seriously, book mark them now if you haven’t – you won’t be sorry!) You can also browse through our full Event Calendar if you can’t find anything you like below – there are several Farmer’s Markets, Consignment Sales, and local Ghost Walks that can be found there!

Boaz Harvest Festival

Friday & Saturday

This annual festival will feature an Antique Classic Car Show with muscle cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Streets will be lined with over 400 arts & crafts, food, and children’s play area vendors. Lots of entertainment & a chili cook off too!

Gem & Mineral Show

Friday – Sunday

Got a pet rock? Or a kid who’s enchanted by cool stones and glittery Earth Science? This annual Gem & Mineral show is a favorite of families all over Madison County, and a great event to attend to earn a Scouting badge!

Raptor Show

Friday at 10AM and 11AM

This popular up-close-and-personal live animal show is a favorite of local Fall Breakers. Your family can meet these beautiful birds of prey and learn all about their valuable place in our ecosystems.

Play Video Games for Charity

Play retro video games and support Dysautonomia Awareness? Yes, please! You can play in this full-size arcade with over 65 video games, and have the chance to win some prizes by making donations to Dysautonomia International.

Concerts On the Dock

Friday at 6:00 PM

Cullman Oktoberfest

he residents of Cullman and the surrounding area are very proud of their German heritage, so it isn’t surprising that every year Cullman Oktoberfest is easily considered the areas largest and most anticipated event of the year. Activities include: a wiener dog race, an arts and crafts show, wagon rides, a kids’ fun area, multiple stage events, a Biergarten, a classic car show, featuring German cars, numerous contests, Historical tours, a quilt show and much, much more.

Fall Walking Tour of Old Town

International Observe the Moon Night

U.S. Space & Rocket Center | More Info

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center hosts NASA Marshall Space Flight Center to celebrate International Observe the Moon Night in the Davidson Center for Space Exploration Saturn V Hall. Enjoy hands-on interactive activities, including an out-of-this-world photo booth, airbrush tattoos, Astronomy Van, Janet Ivey from “Janet’s Planet” on PBS, DJ Shell, and seeing the moon up close with the help of telescopes and astronomers from the Von Braun Astronomical Society!

What a fun way to close out Fall Break! Bring your little one – ages 3-6 – to paint a jolly Fall pumpkin on canvas. Parents are asked to stay to assist with painting. There will be a brief story time to allow paintings to dry and a snack will be provided. All materials included, just be sure to wear painting clothes!
